Welcome to the Grade Four Homework Page

The Homework Wiki's Purpose:
We created the Grade 4 homework wiki to help facilitate successful home/school communication this year. We will still be using more traditional forms of communication such as homework sheets, math logs, and reading logs to encourage students to practice the independent study habits. This web page is meant to serve parents and students whose primary means of communication is via the computer. The wiki is also a wonderful tool to promote the use of technology by students and parents, which is something that we can all benefit from having skills in.
Features / How to use it:
SideBar: The SideBar found on the far right side of every page in the wiki gives you quick links to the wikis different pages. Is you click on SideBar, it will take you to all of the current sidebar information. Within SideBar you will find links for Science, Social Studies, Language Arts, Math, Voice Threads, and e-mail contact information for both of us.
Content Area Links (Math, Science, Language Arts, and Social Studies): From time to time to kids may have assignments that use suggested internet-based sites for things like fact practice, project research, reading response entries, etc. As the middle and high school use these types of resources more and more, it helps the kids develop excellent skills that they will continue to use for school-based activities (and saves a lot of trees). We have also been practicing with a form of multi media called "voice threads" that allow students to share visual / audio forms of the work with parents and other family members that have internet access. It is very cool!
Grade 4 Homework Page: This page will be updated daily with homework and long-term project assignments. This page will help bridge the gap for those students that seem to struggle with independent study skills and/or organization. This page is meant to give parents a place to check when students lose or forget the weekly assignment sheets or when the homework sheets consistently have nothing written on them. Now you have a place to check daily to see what's due tomorrow, the end of the week, or a month from now on long-term assignments. We will also place notices about field trips, permission slips and other important events as reminders. Many parents find this extremely helpful!
Teacher Contact: We have listed our contact information (both e-mail and school phone) in the side bar to further help establish a good home/school communication. Feel free to contact us with questions, comments, concerns.
